Privacy policy

Effective July 26, 2026

This policy explains how personal information is handled by the BigdataSight app, website, Direct checkout, license service, and support. The controller for the BigdataSight-operated parts of those services is Rui Wang (王瑞), trading as Sunny Warrior Studio, an individual software developer based in Shanghai, China.

1. Data in the app

BigdataSight is local-first. Files, query text, results, workspaces, exports, and file metadata that you open or create are processed on your Mac and are not uploaded to a BigdataSight-operated service. When you configure a remote source, the app connects to the provider you selected to perform your requested operation; BigdataSight does not proxy your dataset through its license service.

Remote credentials are stored using the macOS credential store and are sent only as needed to the provider you configure. The initial app release does not send product analytics or crash reports to a BigdataSight-operated analytics service. Apple or a remote provider may process information under its own terms when you use its services.

The Direct edition does not include an in-app automatic updater in the initial release. When you visit the website or download a newer Direct build, the hosting provider processes the essential request information described below. App Store update checks and downloads are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.

2. Website and network information

Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, may process essential request data such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamps, and security events to deliver and protect the website and license service. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking on the website and do not run a product analytics service. Paddle Checkout may use cookies or similar storage required to complete checkout under Paddle's policies.

3. Direct purchases

Paddle is the authorized reseller and merchant of record for Direct purchases and independently processes checkout details, billing information, tax information, payment method, fraud signals, and receipts under Paddle's Privacy Policy. BigdataSight does not receive full payment card details.

To fulfill and support an order, we receive and retain the checkout email address, Paddle customer and transaction identifiers, product and price identifiers, payment status, currency and totals, and adjustment or dispute status. We use this information to deliver the license, verify ownership, provide support, process refunds, meet accounting obligations, and prevent fraud or duplicate fulfillment.

4. License and activation data

The Direct license service processes a high-entropy license key, an opaque device identifier created for licensing, license and activation identifiers, entitlement status, and activation and check timestamps. It does not receive your Mac serial number, local datasets, query text, or query results. Email addresses and license keys stored by the service are encrypted, and non-reversible keyed values are used for lookups and verification.

5. Email, support, and voluntary research

Resend processes the destination address and message needed to deliver Direct license email. If you contact support, we process your email address and the content and attachments you choose to send so we can respond and keep an appropriate support record. Please do not send datasets, credentials, license keys, payment card details, or other secrets unless specifically requested through a secure method.

If you voluntarily answer a product-research question by email, we process your email address and the content you choose to send to understand repeated workflow problems and guide product planning. A short answer is sufficient; no call, company information, or dataset is required. We may create non-identifying summaries for internal research records. Research participation does not create a feature or delivery commitment.

6. Why we process information

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on:

7. Sharing

We share personal information only as needed with service providers that support the functions described above, including Paddle for transactions, Cloudflare for hosting and security, and Resend for license email. App Store purchases are processed by Apple. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or in connection with a lawful transfer of the business. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

8. Retention

We retain transaction, license, activation, refund, dispute, and support records for as long as reasonably needed to provide the permanent license, recover a purchase, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and satisfy legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Short-lived checkout claims and operational delivery records are kept only as needed for reliable fulfillment and security. Retention may vary by record type and applicable law. Voluntary research email is retained only while reasonably useful for the stated research purpose, after which it may be deleted or reduced to a non-identifying workflow summary.

9. International processing

BigdataSight and its service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use contractual or other legally recognized safeguards for international transfers. Paddle, Apple, Cloudflare, and Resend each describe their own processing and transfer practices in their privacy notices.

10. Security

We use measures appropriate to the information involved, including transport encryption, restricted service access, encryption of sensitive fulfillment data, and non-reversible verification values. No internet or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, so keep your license key confidential and contact us if you believe it has been exposed.

11. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal information, and to complain to a local data-protection authority. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Some transaction, security, dispute, and license records must be retained to provide your entitlement or comply with law.

To make a request, email support@bigdatasight.com. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and locate the relevant records.

12. Children

BigdataSight is a professional data tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the website or Direct licensing service without any consent required by applicable law.

13. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the product or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will remain posted here. Privacy questions and requests may be sent to support@bigdatasight.com.
